Ice skating for the first time

Today, I was supposed to go to Djurgården which is a small green island near Stockholm central. However, lately, I have been up late to watching movies and what not, it was very hard to wake up early in the morning for the walk in the garden.

That being cancelled, I got more sleep time and woke up around 11pm. That's where I got a text from a friend who was going ice skating. I thought to myself...what the heck! Let's give it a shot. I have seen so many people on TV during ice skating competition as if there were dancing on the ground itself.

So, the skating rink was at Kunstragarden. I remember seeing the rink several times when I went there because it is close to Cafe Opera where we go for parties at times. It's always full of people of all ages, children, adults. The music was great, good recent pop songs and the ambiance was great as well.

I arrived at the rink, rented the skates for 50 sek and received a pair of shoes with different colors ^^ It took me some time to get to the rink but once I managed I couldn't stand for more than 5 seconds. It was actually harder than I thought to skate on ice. I fell, got up, fell, got up and finally i was able to skate a little bit. It was so entertaining though seeing the others skate so well specially the young Swedish children. I heard they actually learn to skate even before to know how to walk!

Overall, the day was full of laughter and colors as everyone was wearing different colors of jackets, gloves, caps. Outside the rink, people were gathered among friends and family talking, smiling, drinking hot coffee.

It was indeed a great experience my first time skating! I hope I will return there next week and improve a bit. Kind of missing the ice :) But at first Djurgården!!
